The ADMIN Module is capable of creating Time Delimited "Promotions", which automatically activate for the time interval specified. Learn More.

During the interval when a Promotion is in effect, every customer will be entitled to receive the Discounts configured for that Promotion. These Discounts will be automatically calculated by the POS Module during the Totaling Operation of the Shopping Cart, and no action is required on the part of the POS Operator.

So, if during the entering of a Transaction, you see Discounts being applied that you otherwise did not expect, the most likely explanation is that the ADMIN has configured a Promotion to be running at this time.
